Step-by-Step Guide: How to Install a DRL (Daytime Running Light) Module for Better Visibility and Safety"
Tool’s You’ll Need
✅ T20 Torx screwdriver
✅ 10mm hex tool
✅ Heat gun
✅ Impact gun
✅ Heat sink glue
Step 1: Remove the Wheel
The DRL module is mounted in the wheel arch, so the first thing to do is to take the wheel off. To remove the wheel, using an impact gun, slowly loosen the lug nuts and pull the wheel off.
Step 2: Access the DRL Module
After the wheel is coming off, search for the DRL module. It is usually screwed in place and can be disconnected by using a T20 Torx screwdriver and a 10mm hex tool. Next, take the old module out of the way from the wiring harness.
Step 3: Remove the Chip
To fit the new module, it is first necessary to remove the current chip. To detach the chip, use a heat gun to heat the adhesive and then pull it off carefully. This will guarantee that the new module is firmly and without gaps or wrinkles installed.
Step 4: Install the New DRL Module
- Review the fit – To confirm the new module fits as it should, you can compare the new module with the original module to validate the fit.
- Apply heat sink glue – To avoid touching the new module’s backing, peel it off, then put some heat sink glue on the package to prevent heating and make the module stay in place.
- Press the module down – After putting the glue on, stick the module firmly on the desired surface to make it stick well.
Step 5: Reassemble & Test
- Connect the new module to the wiring harness.
- Put the screws back in to secure it in place.
- Put the wheel back on and tighten the lug nuts correctly.
- You can then check whether the new DRL module is functioning as it should by starting the car.
